5-FU-KOREA 500MG INJ
Pharmacological Classification / Category: ANTI-NEOPLASTIC
Composition: Fluorouracil (500mg)
Uses:
* It aids in treating cancers of colon (intestine), stomach, breast, lungs and rectum
* It is also used to treat cancers of Pancreas, liver, urinary bladder, head and neck malignancies.
Side Effects:
* Diarrhoea
* Nausea
* Vomiting
* Neurologic Toxicity
* Oral ulcers
* Decrease in RBC , WBC count hence increased risk of infections.
* Mucositis (inflammation of mucosa)
* Myelosuppression (decreased bone marrow activity)
* Handfoot Syndrome(peripheral neuropathy--- weakness, numbness and pain due to nerve damage ;usually in hands and feet)
Contraindication:
* Contraindicated in Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* If you have any other Medical Condition, you should consult your doctor before using this medication.
* If you are allergic to the drug or its derivatives.
* Avoid driving while taking this medicine; it is possible that your reflexes might be hampered.
Directions to use:
* It is recommended to use this medication for the prescribed amount of time.
* It should not be self administered.
* It is administered by a nurse, doctor, or a health practitioner.
